Winter Tricks and treats at Le carrousel (video)
Before the girls and I headed to bryant park on a blustery sunday morning to check out the Halloween festivities, we first went to our usual Sunday morning service at St. Paul's. Then, with a bit of time to kill, we headed to Boomerang Toys in Tribeca which happened to be open so early (so smart! kids are up early!). Then it was off to Landmarc for a girls brunch. Then we hopped uptown to browse the Macy's Trolls window display and THEN finally made our way to bryant park.
Headed to St. Paul's (mittens and scarves?! hello fall!)

We rolled up right at 1pm at the event's start time and it was already jam packed. Winter saw the carrousel and already was tugging on my coat to ride. Unfortunately the carrousel rides aren't free ($3) and they only took cash so it was back out of the park for us as we searched for the closest ATM (being in midtown near times square, we were in luck as there's practically a bank on every corner). As we walked back to purchase our tickets, the park had filled up with costumed kids and parents and the lines had doubled for the free activities (free pumpkin decorating, face painting, and storytime/magic show). Fortunately the carrousel ride was still short so we rode that (twice), stayed for Justin the magician, grabbed our free treat bag -sans treats (that line was ridiculous for a rubber ducky - we have 5 sitting in our bathtub- no need for another!), and jumped in a cab home for naptime.

Event review: If it's not a trek for you to get here, definitely check it Tricks & Treats at Le Carrousel in Bryant Park. Opt for the story time and the magic show, and carrousel rides, but don't go just because of the free stuff (like pumpkins, treat bag, and face painting) the amount of time you have to stand in line for those things is just not worth it. Staff seemed a bit disheveled and unorganized to handle the crowds but it's free so i'm not banking on service. If you can, get there maybe 15-30 minutes early since it seemed like families were already trying to beat the crowds.
